Welcome to the Coversands

We're now into our forth year of this 5-year funded project and hope you find information and resources available on this website informative and useful.

After much hard work by all the partners and local landowners in the first three years we hope to exceed our initial commitment to regenerate 700 hectares and recreate 250 hectares of lowland heath over the period of the project.

Our Coversands flock of Hebridean sheep has also been busy grazing it's way around our various sites to reduce invasive plant species from overtaking the heathland. At Atkinson's Warren in Scunthorpe local people are volunteering as sheep wardens to help with this important work.

Have you visited one of our sites yet? If not, we have site packs available to help you discover the beautiful Coversands heathlands.

Having created educational CD-ROMs we're now working with local primary school teachers to help children learn more about this important resource. If you're a teacher please contact us direct to find out more.

We hope you enjoy the heathlands around historic Lincolnshire.
