How To tell Butterflies apart from Moths

Moths are generally active at night and butterflies during the day. Butterflies have long, slender antennae with knobs on the end whereas the antennae of moths is feathery and thicker. Butterflies have bright, colourful wings and moths are often more subtle in colour. A butterfly folds its wings back to back and a moth folds the wings in a scissor-fashion with one wing on top of the other.

FACT: It is estimated that there are over 80,000 different species of butterfly and over 360,000 species of moth throughout the world.
